If your job involves long hours in the sitting position, it is important to stretch periodically to remain loose and prevent muscle tightening which can increase the likelihood of injury. This stretch is an excellent way to loosen the shoulders and upper back and can easily be completed while at the desk during the day.

  • Start in the seated position
  • Place the left hand in your lap and stretch the right hand towards
    the sky
  • Bend slightly to your left side, feeling a light stretch along your
    right side
  • Count to 10 while breathing slowly
  • Switch to the left hand and repeat
  • Do periodically throughout the day to remain loose
